At Bernicia, apprenticeships are a great way to start your career while gaining real experience. Each year we welcome apprentices from many different backgrounds into our teams.

You could be working in a hands-on role with our trade teams such as electrical, joinery, plastering, bricklaying, plumbing & gas and multi-skilled or in one of our office teams like People Services, ICT, Finance, Customer Contact and Housing.
Wherever you start, you will learn from experienced colleagues and gain skills that can support your future career.

Many of our apprentices choose to stay with us once their training is complete. In fact, more than 90% of our apprentices go on to secure permanent roles with Bernicia.
That means you are not just gaining a qualification, you are building a career.

We are currently recruiting for 13 apprenticeship opportunities across our trade and business teams in the North and South of our region.

These roles offer the chance to gain real experience, build skills and work towards a recognised qualification while earning on the job.

Apprenticeships available

Trades – North (Ashington)

• 2 x Level 2 Joiner
• 1 x Level 2 Multi-Skilled

Trades – South (Spennymoor)

• 2 x Level 2 Joiner
• 2 x Level 3 Electrician
• 1 x Level 3 Plumbing and Heating
• 1 x Level 2 Multi-Skilled

Business – North (Ashington)

• 1 x Level 3 Business Administrator, People Training Team
• 1 x Level 3 Content Creator, Communications Team
• 1 x Level 4 Anti-Social Behaviour and Community Safety, Housing Services
• 1 x Level 4 Data Analyst, Customer Insight and Engagement

We are also holding two drop-in events for anyone who would like to find out more about our apprenticeship opportunities.

You can come along, speak to our team and sign up for one-to-one employability support with things like applications and interview preparation.
