Bernicia is a housing association providing homes and services to thousands of people across the region.
But we are more than just a landlord. Through Bernicia Communities, we work with tenants, partners and local organisations to create opportunities that help people build skills, connect with others and take part in activities in their community.
Much of this work is led by Bernicia’s Employability Team, who bring together training, activities and partnerships that support local people.
We work closely with community groups, charities, schools, colleges and other organisations to deliver programmes and activities across our communities.
By working together, we can support more people and create opportunities that make a positive difference.
We help people build the confidence and skills they need to move into work.
Through our Jobs and Skills programme, the Employability Team offers practical support to help people prepare for employment, learn new skills and connect with opportunities in their area. This includes one-to-one support, training opportunities and work experience that helps people take their next step towards employment.
Bernicia offers apprenticeships across a range of roles.
Apprenticeships give people the chance to gain experience, learn on the job and achieve recognised qualifications while working. Many of our apprentices go on to build long-term careers with Bernicia.
We work with schools and colleges across the region to help young people understand the world of work.
Our Employability Team supports careers events, world of work days and partnerships with education providers so young people can learn about different careers and opportunities in their local area.
Bernicia Communities also supports a range of activities and events that bring people together.
From community projects and wellbeing activities to local events, these opportunities help neighbours connect, learn new skills and take part in activities where they live.
